UX/UI Design

The majority of jobs I work on now require, initially, stills (Photoshop/Illustrator/XD) and some require more advanced wireframing and UX solutions through Adobe XD.

 

Web Design

I am first and foremost a front-end (UI) designer, working with Photoshop/Illustrator (Adobe CC), from wireframe spec to screen ready files. I am familiar with html/css code and have worked with Dreamweaver/Photoshop/Fireworks and other third party software to create html code. I have worked very successfully with programmers throughout my career and am very comfortable specking out jobs and working within a team environment.

 

Content management systems

I have worked on a variety of CMS’s and dashboards from custom built systems to Joomla and more recently I have created WordPress sites from start to finish.

1993 – 1997

ReynoldsBoyce Design Consultants, Limerick

After a brief spell of work experience in Dublin I set up a small company with a college colleague where I ‘learned the hard way’ how to deal with customers and printers.

 

1997 – 1998

I travelled and worked in Australia/New Zealand in graphic design and roadworks!

 

1998 – 1999

Grasshopper Graphics -design agency, Dublin

A small company in Sandyford in Dublin, I worked with a team of designers on everything print from brochures and logos to posters and exhibitions..

 

1999 – 2003

W3 Services – web design agency

A very fulfilling few years in an initally small, five strong company which grew to a thirty strong company, with a graphics division of ten designers split between Limerick and Dublin. I supervised the design team while working on a broad variety of Website and software Interfaces.

 

2003 – 2015

Alphaset Limited – graphic and web design agency, Limerick

Alphaset Limited – graphic design agency, Limerick a seven strong workforce in Limerick creating and producing everything from interactive museum displays to websites to all things print.

The latter years of working with Alphaset I worked mainly on website design. I would typically spec out websites with the clients, design and build the front end and liaise with developers in creating a wide variety of web projects from brochure websites to complex multifunctional e-commerce websites.

Throughout my time with Alphaset I specialised in brand based solutions / corporate identity / logo and product specific Iconography, packaging, websites / Intranets and online print Advertising and Literature.

 

2015 – today

Appiercom – app development and marketing

I am at present lead designer with Appiercom Ltd, based in Plassey Limerick. My role here is in all things design related, from in-house corporate identity/marketing to designing the user interfaces for the suite of apps developed by Appiercom. My typical functions would include app UI design, creating corporate collateral for Appiercom from business cards to large format exhibition walls, Infographics for presentations/website, collaborating with video editors in creating explainer videos and any Website requirements of the company.

 

About me

I am a graphic designer with a love for all things creative. I thrive in a team based environment and love to delve into the new. I have extensive experience in creative print design but excell in digital design. My strongest feature would be my versility and understanding of a broad range of design applications from large format to on-screen productions. I have brought creative jobs from concept to fruition, dealing with clients, initially specking jobs and following through to completion.

In my personal life I play good golf very badly, I enjoy running/exercising and all things sport and love both the business and social aspects of working in a team environment.
